Signs it’s time to replace your home’s fence:

1.  Splintered wood

If there are several boards with splintering or a mix of fractured and cracking wood, it’s time to replace the fence. You might opt for a different material next time. If you prefer a wood fence, treated wood is best.

2.  Rotting wood, mildew, mold, and stains

This is the same story as above. If you live in an area prone to mold and mildew growth, steer clear of untreated wood or choose materials such as vinyl, composite (Trex), aluminum, or treated wood fencing.

3.  Holes in the fence

If your fence has a “polka dot” look, you probably have a problem with critters, either termites, mice, etc. You will need to contact an exterminator in addition to a fencing professional.

4.  Leaning fence or missing boards

If your fence is leaning over, don’t prop it back up. It could have weak posts, warped or broken boards, and come down in strong winds. If there are missing boards, this is a structural issue. Pets and small children are not kept in a fence if there are missing boards, and repair and replacement are needed.

5.  No privacy

If your neighbors can see through the fence and you can see your neighbors, a new privacy fence is your solution.

6.  Not high enough

Are your dogs able to jump the fence? You should consider reinstalling to ensure your fence is the proper height.

7.  Exterior remodel

Did you repaint or remodel the exterior of your home, and now the fence looks unpleasing? A new one will be aesthetically pleasing and flow well with the rest of your estate.
