If you own a Victorian-style house, a white picket fence would fit nicely; a sprawling Ranch style estate begs for a cedar wood fence with a gorgeous natural finish. However, you can also consider the exterior color of any home to narrow down a palette that will prove a wise choice.
Consider your home’s exterior color when choosing a fence color:
For houses with beige, white, and pastel exteriors, fences of almost any color will look pleasing. Black, natural wood, metal, and other colors will complement neutral shades well. A neutral color extends the boundaries of your property, making it appear larger. An example would be if your exterior is white, but you don’t want a white fence, install a Trex (composite) light brown fence to match decking or wood trim. You can also coordinate with lawn furniture or elements in landscaping.
Contrast is the keyword here. For these colors, a sophisticated bronze aluminum fence accentuates the darker shade and makes your fence stand out. Also, a beautiful wood fence, either stained or sealed to bring out the natural wood grain, draws attention.
A fence in black aluminum, a complementary shade of composite (Trex), or vinyl white will accentuate a modern feel in gray and blue hues. Crisp white lines of fencing are classic yet bold and updated.
An aluminum fence in black, bronze, or hunter green elevates the look of your property and gives it a pleasing aesthetic.
Of course, these are only recommendations based on common color themes and some guidelines to keep in mind. Your style and preference come into play, as well.
